
The University for Foreigners in Perugia was founded in the early 1920’s with the aim of teaching Italian civilization and artistic heritage to foreigners. The Institutional mission of the University is the dissemination and the promotion of the Italian language and culture all over the world. Its story began in 1921 when a lawyer by the name of Astorre Lupattelli, who had dedicated much of his life to the project, set up the first courses in high culture in his home town.
This University has distinguished itself from the beginning as a symbol of open-mindedness and tolerance and as a meeting point for people of different cultures, and is now a real ‘laboratory’ of intercultural education. Since the beginning of the Nineties, this extraordinary experience of internationalization has been expanded in terms of teaching with the introduction of Bachelor and Master degree courses and Postgraduate degrees for Italian and foreign students. The University is located in Perugia, one of the most interesting cities in Italy in terms of its artistic, historical and monumental patrimony. Located in central Italy, between Rome and Florence, Perugia is a lively and modern cultural center characterized by a rich annual agenda of events and exhibitions, rendering it interesting all year round.
