“Marco Polo” and “Turandot” Programs: Italian Language and Culture Courses for Chinese students enrolling in Italian Universities and Schools of Art, Music and Dance (Degree and Post degree programs)

Objectives

Learning Italian Language in Italy in order to gain the linguistic and cultural competences required to attend Italian Universities or higher education institutions for art, music and dance - equivalent to the level B1/B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Every year more than 8.000 international students from more than 100 Countries choose our University to learn Italian.

• China Focus: Our University has a long term and solid cooperation experience with almost 30 Chinese Top Level Universities.

• Cooperation with Italian Universities and higher education institutions for art, music and dance: Chinese students attending Italian Language and Culture Courses at University for Foreigners of Perugia will benefit from the cultural and scientific cooperation with some of the Italian Top Level Universities and Schools for Art and Music. Specific bilateral training programs are provided for Chinese students before accessing the selected Degree Course.

Admission requirements

Who can access:

• Chinese Students holding a Secondary School Leaving Certificate who obtained a minimum mark of 380/750 at the Gao Kao;

• Students holding a Chinese Bachelor Degree.

Foreign students

The period to submit the pre-enrolment application to the Italian diplomatic authorities in China is from June to September of the year preceding the year of enrolment in University (or higher education institutions for Art, Music and Dance). Such applications can be submitted for all study programmes offered at Universities or higher education institutions for Art, Music and Dance providing quotas for Chinese students.

Study Plan

COURSES ORGANIZATION

• 20 classroom hours per week (80/90 classroom hours per month);

• Language and Culture courses focused on the language used in University’s lessons and include: Italian language grammar, language exercises, written Italian, speaking practice, phonetic exercises, pronunciation, Italian language for university purpose;

• Students will also attend Italian Language courses focused on the specialized language of the selected University course: Language of Art, Music, Economy, Science, Human disciplines, Design, Fashion etc.;

• Highly specialized Italian and Chinese teachers;

• Courses are divided into 2-month and three-month terms. Exams are organized at the end of every month of course.

 

FINAL TEST

CELI/MARCO POLO TURANDOT EXAM – University for Foreigners of Perugia International Certification for Competences in Italian Language

At the end of the 11 or 10-month course students will participate in the “CELI/MARCO POLO TURANDOT EXAM” – Level B1/B2 (International Certification for Competences in Italian Language Competences organized at the end of the 10/11 month course as a special session for Chinese students. Registration Fee: 65 €).

 

UNIVERSITY’S ENTRANCE TEST: SPECIAL COURSES FOR MARCO POLO AND TURANDOT STUDENTS

 

Chinese students can also attend special seminars in order to gain all the specific skills and abilities needed to pass the entrance tests for the selected University course:

• Selected University’s entrance test;

• Selected School of Art or Music course entrance test;

• Specific Academic Language of the selected University course.

 

Thanks to the cooperation with Italian Universities and education institutions for art, music and dance, specific bilateral training programs are provided for Chinese students before accessing the selected Degree or Post Degree Course.

 

PERUGIA UNIVERSITIES FOR CHINA

Thanks to a specific bilateral agreement between University for Foreigners of Perugia and University of Perugia:

Chinese “Marco Polo” students attending the 11/10-month Italian Language Course of University for Foreigners of Perugia and pre-enrolling in University of Perugia 3-year Bachelor’s Courses can access to a specific joint training program gaining up to 12 University Credits.

AT UNIVERSITY FOR FOREIGNERS OF PERUGIA

• China Desk: Students mentoring service in Chinese language (Italian students speaking Chinese and Chinese students speaking Italian) who will help students step by step in everyday life;

• Police station: the police station is located INSIDE the main building of the University, Palazzo Gallenga. Residence permits for students are issued here.
